The results of scale model tests for predicting variables in the strengths of fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) laminates are presented. Classical laws of similitude are applied to fabricate and test replica model specimens. These are used in turn to identify scaling effects in the loading response, strength and model of Womens Nike Free 3.0 failure. Members of IFAC's Technical Committee on Theory prepared this review of papers published during 1984–1986 for the participants of the 10th IFAC World Congress in Munich. The review is limited to the scope Nike Free 4.0 V3 of the Theory Committee. The idea is to give a status report on Control Theory and to give some guidance into the extensive literature on this topic. The discrepancy between particle-hole matrix elements of the nuclear interaction as obtained using a realistic two nucleon potential and as derived from experiment is partly but not completely removed by considering the effects of core polarization. Simple formulae for the corrections to the monopole interaction between a particle and a hole are given. Analytical formulae are presented for the temperature and the heat loss for the case of a finite ground water flow rate. Both uninsulated and insulated ground slabs are studied. The formulae account for different thermal conductivities above and below the ground water table.
